Student PSEA Leadership

President of Student PSEA

My name is Ashley Muscarella and I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. I am studying Secondary Education and History so that I can teach high school students American History with a multicultural perspective. I traveled to Cape Town, South Africa on the Vira I. Heinz Scholarship to study American Foreign Policy in Africa as well as Social Entrepreneurship. Currently, I serve as the Student PSEA State President. I love to advocate for public education, my students, and fellow educators. I would describe my involvement in PSEA as an empowering opportunity to represent members' voices and advocate for the future of education.

Southwest Region President

My name is Bryan Edwards, I am the Southwest Region President and the previous Business Manager for the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s chapter of SPSEA. I am a Secondary Education and Biology major here at the university and have been actively involved in SPSEA since my freshmen year. SPSEA has provided me with a ton of skills, such as leadership, organization, and time management, which I find very useful when in the classroom. I am truly grateful to be a part of this amazing organization and encourage anyone to take advantage of every opportunity SPSEA offers to them -- you will not regret it!

Southwest Region Vice President

My name is Samantha Nagel and I am currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg pursuing majors in secondary education and history. I am an active member of SPSEA and hold the title of Southwest Region Vice-President. SPSEA has tremendously impacted my life thus far. Being involved in SPSEA has provided me with not only numerous opportunities through workshops and field experiences which have helped me as I evolve into the teacher I want to be, but SPSEA has also introduced me to some of my very best friends. In these aspects, SPSEA is a huge factor in my life and in my journey to becoming a teacher.

Southwest Region PACE Chair

My name is Thomas Trapp and I am the southwest region PACE chair. As a political science major and future social studies teacher, I am highly interested in politics, especially as it relates to education policy. SPSEA not only provides insurance for preservice and student teachers doing field work, but it allows opportunities for professional development, as well as promoting political awareness as it relates to education. SPSEA does these things while allowing its members to have an enjoyable time!

Underclassman Leadership Award Recipient

My name is Rebecca Nannini and I am the recipient of the Underclassman Leadership Award. Currently I am junior in the Early Childhood Education Program. SPSEA has been a huge impact on my major throughout my three years at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. SPSEA has given me opportunities to have experiences with children and students of all different backgrounds and abilities. Not only have I been given the opportunity to personally work with these students, but I have also been granted the opportunity to take on leadership roles through the club. SPSEA has allowed me to make a positive difference while gaining experiences that will help me in my future career as an educator.
